GREAT thread! Big kudos to Глюки Жизни for starting this. :) And to everyone else who's helped out!
I had a question for the regular speakers of Russian... I took 3 semesters of college Russian (back in the day) and the Е and Ё sounds were described as more "ye/yay" and "yo" with a little lesser emphasis on the 'y', but it was still very there. In everyday usage, do the 'y's drop out and it's more an 'e/ay' 'o' sound?
Some of the responses to previous queries haven't documented the 'y' - I'm just curious if that's because it wasn't written out that way or if it's just that it drops out in normal usage. :)

Another question. One of the longest words I ever learned was (am I'm going to horribly massacre this): prepodevaityelnitsa. I thought it meant "school teacher", but I've not seen this provided as a translation anywhere.
Any thoughts? And how the hell do I spell it in Cyrillic? :)

oui, bien sur! i love to new countreis and experience new cultures and foods. for example, when i went to japan two years ago, i had sushi for the first time!
Also, when i go abroad i always try to learn some of the language, like spanish or italian; and also i like to learn about the native customes and traditions.

quel moyen de transport preferes-tu?

i prefer to travel by boat when i am travelling abroad,as i think boats are very comfortable and quite fast. also, i believe that planes create too much polluition and aren't very comfortable. in general, i like to travel by car because it is both comfortable and fast.

est-ce que tu as deja alle a l'etranger?

i have travelled abroad a few times before; i went to marsailles when i was seven, japan when i was twelve and last year i went to naples in italy. italy was the best place i visted, as the food was very nice. i had delicious pizza every day! next year i hope to go to romania, it sounds like a very interesting country.

si tu avais le choix, en quel pays voudrais-tu voyager?

if i had the choice, i would love to go to romania. this is because i think it is such an interesting place to visit. i am particularly interested in the witch-hunts that happened there and the percecution of gipsies. i would also like to help the starving children who live there.

kk i know i must be getting really annoying now but i need to have some more englsih translated into french -- i've got to prepare my french orals and i've done four out of five topics so after this one i have only got one left to do.

quelles matieres fais-tu?

i do ten subjects. they are art, history, maths, english,russian,french, chemistry, biology, physics, and geography. at the moment all the subjects are compulsary (obligatoire) but next year i will be able to chose what subjects i am going to chose. i think that i will drop geography and keep everything else. this is because i think that geography is very hard and most of all it is ver very boring.

quelles sont tes matieres preferees?

my favourite subject has to be art. i think its my favourite because i'm a very creative person and i love to paint and draw. i'm not really that keen on pottery but it's alright i suppose. my least favourite subject has to be physics. it is the most boring subject ever!! i would drop it next year but i need it to get the career i would like in the future. i also quite like history, i think its quite interesting to learn about what happened in the past and i like the fact that none of the work can ever change as it is all from the past.
