I'm making this topic, because now i'm in Maryland (I'm from Chile) and I really don't know which are the places that i really got to visit....i mean the really cool places.

So if someone could help me or just talk about your town it could help another one tourist like me XD.

PS:i'm in U.S. but my english still sucks hahahahaha XD.

I'm kind of confused as to what this thread is about, but I'll just go ahead and post even if I'm completely off. I live for embarassment!

If you were to ever come to British Columbia don't make a stop in a little town called Mission. It's the most boring place you will ever visit. It's not even like we're a little hick town, we have plenty of things around here that could be considered fun but no, it still sucks here.

I would have to say that it's beautiful here. The scenery and even the little shops downtown here are gorgeous, I do love the way it looks here. The people however, are a different story. Because we're a small town, everyone here thinks they're hot sh*t so they act all tough. So the town is full of annoying teenagers who think they're sooooo great. I hate it here. I can't wait to move.

^^LOL! Ireland is "fekking easy"

I hate travelling the US! Europe's a lot better and easier to travel (thanks you Eurorail).

Let's see, my state is the spring break state, the beach state, the shark attack state etc etc...basically lots of beaches, and state parks, lakes...
Good for outing and camping, but not good if you love the city. Don't go to Miami looking like a total tourist...just don't. We have lots of amusement parks including Disneyworld.

Bad thing is, especially for the backpacker type, you absolutely need a car.

Here in Italy we have a lot of place for tourist. We have large town of art like Rome, Venice, Florence and many many more. We have great mountain in the north where you do a lot of trips and we have a lot of sea. Unlucky, in the last years, it became much expensive.

If you come here (Finland) at winter (January-February), you'll see snow, snow and...Snow, especially if you go to the Lappland (remember to take enough warm clothes with). If you come at summer, you'll see rivers, lakes, forest...I haven't much to tell about cities here, because I live in small city, that is in southern Finland (and still it's 11th biggest city in Finland o_O) and haven't traveled much in other cities.
In generally, Finland is quite nice country, though we don't have anything special (except sauna =D). And sometimes people can be so reticent and awkward

North Carolina? I thought they renamed that NASCARland a few years back lol

Anyways, the first challenge for a tourist is finding out what this town is actually called. Depending on your political and lingual preferences, it's either Doire, Derry or Londonderry. Alternatively, you can call it "Stroke City" in deference to the habit of news broadcasters a few years ago of referring to it as Derry-stroke-Londondonderry. Once you've got your head around that, you've got to figure out how to get here. Air links from Stansted in London, but not much further as the RSPB won't let us extend the runway, so regional we shall remain. Train line from Belfast is a joke, I wouldn't even consider it. Road is single-carriageway for the bulk of the distance. Considering we're Northern Ireland's second city, we don't get much. Theory is that it's due to the bulk of the population being Catholic (religious discrimination laws only came into effect IIRC in the early '80s), and the goodies all went to the mostly Protestant towns to the East of the Bann river (the University of Ulster being the most obvious- Coleraine's hardly half the size of Derry yet got chosen before us).

Hmm. Seems to be turning into a rant. Let's move on.

History's the big thing round here. The city walls dating back to the elizabethan plantations are the big draw, and still have cannons in place (althougth they're blocked up these days). If more recent history's your thing, then you can go see the murals http://www.cain.ulst.ac.uk/bogsideartists/murals.htm
There's quite a few bars and the live music scene's pretty good if that's your thing (plenty of buskers, too). There's also riverboat cruises and bus tours if you want to see a bit more. There is also a tourist narrow-gauge railway which is currently in mothballs as it looks like the council is gonna sell the land and build yet more f"Ј$%^& appartments (they've a tradition of short-sightedness to keep up). Best views are from the top of the cemetery, you can see nearly the whole city from up there and most of the lough as well). in terms of events, the big news is the Hallowe'en festival, which is big news around here, one of the biggest anywhere. There's the obligatory film festival and the "lark in the park" rally race on the east side as well. Speaking of which there's a couple of decent parks as well, but they're pretty much on the outskirts, except maybe Brooke Park. There's the occasional open air concert in Prehen park (we've had Oasis, Bryan Adams and Radio 1's "one big weekend") as well as an ice show every once in a while. A big deal's been made of the new theatre, and it's drawn a fair few big shows (Russian state ballet was here a while back) but I don't think it really lives up to the hype.

All of the above liberally doused in rain, of course...........

i had to post bout my town its the best.

for a start youve got the box which has to be the trendiest hairdressers next to the white horse i mean come on its purple!!
also we have the victoria pub living proof that there is life in cheshunt after 9pm on a friday night!

the best part of the old pond has to be the fountain tho! it has its own little family of ducks bless em! their home does get wrecked tho every time england plays in a big sporting event, no wait everytime england plays in a sporting event it doesnt have to b big the idea of us getting to a big place is enough.

i nearly forgot to mention grundy park. tis a sports centre, mmmm sweaty bodies mmmm. its great not only does it have a fit and well gym but also holds sci-fi fares wot more could you ask for? tho i have to mention if you are of a certain age they do get security guards to escort you off of the premises after a certain time when all you want to do is go on the swings.

but wait there is more... i mean you've got possibly the best cafe down the old pond which does the greasiest fry ups that are perfect for hangovers. not only that but you have a totally over-priced, not worth it wimpy there as well!

last but not least cheshunt railway station. great design concept! its great but do not climb over the barriers bcoz they will go up just as u do and then they will break.

anyway thats my town tis a great place :)

Reasons why not to come to London

Pick-pockets
Crime Level is high
Clubs, Nightclubs, Bars all have very high prices for drink
London Underground isnt 24hrs
London Transport can get bombed
London bus's at night accept only tickets which are bough from pay and display style ticket machines before you even Get on the bus so if your a tourist or drunk like i was, you wouldnt know what was happening...
London is full of Non-English ???? more or less Eastern europe now

err good points
I live there???

A you crack me up sometimes and at this time in the morning.

I will answer this thread some other time. The city I live near (the one tourists vist) Has its good points and bad but I dont want to do it now when im trying to get to sleep.

Or at least trying to stop thinking about things.
So I can give my head a rest.

Tacoma doesn't have much. Theres the Tacoma Dome, but theres a chance that that'll be torn down. It's in Washington state, so theres trees, lakes, etc. If anyone ever comes here, DO NOT spend too much time walking around the streets. Why? Tacoma was founded by the Mafia and is still half run by it. And the cops should get an award for laziest cops on earth. Anyone remember that topic I posted back in November about that guy with an AK in the Tacoma Mall? The cops were all parked at the donut shop in the parking lot. No joke. They had to call in the swat team from the next city.

If your lookin for drugs and stuff, come here. Ay least half of the city(including the cops) know where all the drug addicts hang out. The teenagers across the street know how to easily get cocain and pot. That should give you an idea of how widely known it is.

Any tourists that come here better have a tazer or something to protect themselves. Muggers paradise.

I, personally, haven't run into any pick-pockets, but I want to start practicing that(don't misunderstand me, I want to learn to prevent it from happening to me).

So unless your lookin for drugs, sex, crime, etc, don't come here.

Well, the specific suburb I live in has absolutely nothing of interest, but thousands of people drive through it every day on their way to and from work :)

But Sydney has some very cool tourist-y iconic places.
